Adebayor Joins His 9th Professional Club

Togo legend Emmanuel Adebayor has joined his ninth professional club after signing one-year contracts with Turkish giant Kayserispor.

The 35-year-old former Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham striker had been a free agent since leaving rivals Istanbul Basaksehir end of last season by mutual consent.Adebayor, who scored 28 goals in 76 appearances for Basaksehir said via BBC: “This is a league I know very well and I feel happy to be here,” 

“We can only do something great together and I want to make a positive contribution to the great quality already here at the club.”Ex BBC African Footballer of the Year and the Caf African will join Ivorian Brice Dja Djedje, Ghana’s Bernard Mensah, Nigeria’s Anthony Uzodimma and Cameroon’s Paul-Georges Ntep at the club.Adebayor started his career his native Togo in 200 before moving French clubs Metz, Monaco, Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspurs, Crystal Palace as well as European football powerhouse Real Madrid but he was left out of the Togo squad for next month’s 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Comoros.
